Vision

Mongolia's expanding market-oriented democracy is putting increasing pressure on the country's environment and natural resources. While the Government of Mongolia is doing what it can for economically sustainable environmental management, it is the people of Mongolia who depend on a healthy environment for their livelihood. They are realizing that they themselves have a stake in environmental stewardship. GGFOM supports projects and ideas to promote wise environmental stewardship in Mongolia.

GGFOM is currently working on the following projects:

Delegation of Environmentalists to Mongolia

In response to the need for an objective survey of Mongolia’s declining environmental health and to generate international interest, Golden Gate Friends of Mongolia (GGFOM) is bringing together leading international environmental organizations from the United States to explore the challenges that are facing Mongolia’s fresh water reserve and pristine nature. This expedition will be a collaborative 15 day tour of the environmentally destructive sites and travesties in Mongolia and will culminate in long-term action planning and partnering with local Mongolian environmental leaders.

This is an extremely important project at this time in history; however, we cannot do it without your help. Please help stop the continued environmental degradation of Mongolia’s land by making a tax-deductible donating today!

Mongolia 2010

An International Arts Festival and Eco-Trade Show, presenting music, theater, film, dance, and visual arts, and showcasing the latest developments in: renewable energy systems; outdoor goods and equipment suited to Mongolia’s pristine environment and to the nomadic traditions of Mongolia’s ancient culture; portable structures such as classrooms and health clinics; and environmentally sensitive natural resource development techniques. Mongolia 2010 will use the arts to call attention to the urgent need for environmental protection and the wise management of natural resources for sustainable development. In addition, the Festival will be an expression of the growing links between Mongolia and the World community through the creation of active, ongoing cultural exchanges and economic and business partnerships.
